SANDS is a not for profit, parent based organisation that leads the community in pregnancy and infant loss awareness and support. We provide bereavement support, information, and advocacy for parents and their families across Queensland who have experienced the death of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, newborn death and other reproductive losses.

About the Position

We need a part time Parent Support Coordinator to join our team in New Farm, Brisbane. Your role will be establishing and coordinating a new bereavement support phone line, working with parent supporters across the state, developing a roster, and identifying further support and training needs.

Another key component of the job is to promote the 13 000 support line, the resources which support bereaved parents and families and promoting the SANDS model of care and support. This position is offered for 20 hours per week on a 6 month contract at Level 4.1 of the Community Services and Crisis Assistance Award. Salary sacrifice is available.

To be successful in this position you will need to have qualifications and / or experience in child and family bereavement. You will need a good understanding of loss and grief issues and the ability to relate to the needs of bereaved parents.

General committee members
These are the remaining positions on the Committee who do not hold one of the above executive positions. They are vital to the effective operation of the committee and support the other members of the committee.

SANDS Sunshine Coast Workshop - Resilience: Grief and Loss

Monday 21st November 2011

Time

12.30 to 2.30pm

Address

Caloundra Community Centre 78 Buderim Street, Currimundi

Cost

Free as part of Sunshine Coast SANDS support group

Details

We will together, in a safe and nurturing space, explore ideas around grief, loss (whether recent or distant past), and living a rich, full and meaningful life.

How do we acknowledge and make room for the pain associated with our loss, yet still somehow function in a world that has not come to a stand still. A world that continues to swirl around us as we find ourselves, at times, paralysed by our struggle with the impact of loss; both our own and that of others around us too.

This workshop will give opportunity, within a supportive and caring environment, to share as much or as little as feels comfortable. Each person's story is different, yet in our uniqueness we also find our sameness.

We will acknowledge the life of little loved one's lost. We will together explore ways in which we might respectfully grieve our loss and allow ourselves to take steps, as big or small as are workable, in creating a meaningful life inclusive of the pain of our loss.

To register your interest for this workshop please don't hesitate to contact Tracy Winchester, Counsellor. Phone 0407 499 846
